Conservation Commission:
The Conservation Commission was formed by a petitioned warrant article at the 1971 annual Town Meeting. They are a Board made up of volunteers who work to protect the Town’s natural resources. They are tasked with such duties as conducting natural resources inventories, coordinating land protection, and wetland permit reviews. After the Town Forests were created, the Conservation Commission was tasked with maintaining them.

Wetlands Preservation:
The Northumberland Conservation Commission has dedicated funds toward the Board of Selectmen’s filing as an intervenor in the SEC meetings re: Northern Pass. Below is the Wetland Impact report submitted as supporting evidence that the Northern Pass construction will negatively affect the three delineated wetland areas in Northumberland located within the right-of-way.
